Description

The history of women working for the railroad is nearly invisible. Records of employment are often listed by first initials so identification of women is not possible. Three women have been identified as working for the Southern Pacific Railroad in Nevada in the early 1900’s. You will meet these women and learn the type of work they did. This is presentation will be done by Mona Reno and Patti Bernard. Mona is a retired research librarian from the Nevada State Library. She worked with historians and researchers on Nevada history for over 25 years. She is past chair of the Nevada Women’s History Project and remains active in that organization. Patti is third generation Nevadan, retired as school administrator, but earlier in her career taught history of Nevada classes. In addition to her current position as NWHP Chair, she is also one of the chief historical researchers in the organization.
