Where do I catch the train to Virginia City?
NOT at the Nevada State Railroad Museum. The train from Carson City to Virginia City is operated by the Virginia & Truckee Railway. Trains depart from their Eastgate depot five miles east of Carson City on Highway 50. Where do the train rides at the museum go?
The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City offers steam train rides or motor car rides every weekend, May through September, and a few select dates in October and December. Trains leave from the Wabuska Depot (at the main entrance to the museum property) and ride a 2,000-foot radial loop around the museum grounds. Steam train rides are approximately 40 minutes long, motorcar rides are approximately 20 minutes long.
How much are the train rides at the museum?
Steam Train and McKeen Motorcar rides:
Adults 12 years and older – $8.00
Children 4 to 11 years old – $4.00
Children 3 years and under – FREE
Edwards Motorcar rides:
Adults 12 years and older – $6.00
Children 4 to 11 years old – $3.00
Children 3 years and under – FREE
Museum members are half-price.
